Teona Lavrelashvili
Visiting Fellow, Wilfried Martens Centre For European Studies
Dr. Teona Lavrelashvili is a policy professional specializing in EU affairs with extensive experience in EU institutions, academia, and think tanks. She currently serves as a visiting fellow at the Wilfred Martens Centre for European Studies, focusing on EU enlargement and related demographic and social changes.
Dr. Lavrelashvili earned her Ph.D. in Political Science from KU Leuven, where she managed the European Party Monitor project and defended her dissertation on the role of European political parties in the EU enlargement process in 2022. She continues her academic engagement as an associate professor, focusing her research on EU relations with the Western Balkans and Eastern Partnership countries, and exploring issues related to institutional structures and party politics.
Beyond her academic pursuits, Dr. Lavrelashvili is active in various leadership roles, including heading the College of Europe’s Alumni Association and the European Alliance for Georgia. She has initiated and managed numerous projects, notably "How Does the EU Work," which has provided education to over 400 emerging leaders and civil society participants in Brussels.
