Sanja Lazarova-Molnar

Professor, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) & University of Southern Denmark (SDU); Director, Board of Directors, The Society for Modelling and Simulation International (SCS); Chair, IEEE Denmark & Vice-Chair, IEEE Denmark Women in Engineering AG

I’m a Professor at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and the University of Southern Denmark (SDU). At KIT, I lead the research group Systems, Data, Simulation and Energy (SYDSEN) within the Institute of Applied Informatics and Formal Description Methods, while at SDU I lead the research group Modelling, Simulation and Data Analytics (MSDA) within the SDU Software Engineering section.

I serve as Director-at-Large on the Board of Directors of The Society for Modeling & Simulation International (SCS) and I’m a Senior Member of IEEE. My current research interests include modeling and simulation of stochastic systems, reliability modeling and analysis, and data analytics for decision support in various contexts.

Prior to my current position, I was employed as an Assistant Professor at the College of Information Technology at the United Arab Emirates University. I obtained my Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University “Otto-Von-Guericke” in Magdeburg in Germany in 2005, where I was also a member of the Simulation Group at the Institute of Simulation and Graphics.

Originally, I come from Macedonia, where I got my Diploma in Computer Science from the Institute of Informatics (now Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering) at the University “Sts. Cyril and Methodius” in Skopje. I spent the first 22 years of my life in Macedonia and that is the place where I feel like “the real me”. In case you have some spare time in your life, I strongly recommend to visit Macedonia and feel the beauties of the life there…
