on 10/05/2022

Following the success of the second edition of the Winter School for Female Leadership in the Digital Age held in February 2022 in Nice, France, Huawei’s European Leadership Academy is today announcing that the second Summer School for Female Leadership in the Digital Age will be held from 17 to 22 July 2022 in Prague, Czech Republic.

As part of Huawei’s broader initiative Seeds for the Future, the “School for Female Leadership in the Digital Age” represents the company’s continued commitment to furthering digital inclusion; specifically, closing the gender gap, and creating a world where women are empowered to not just participate, but to thrive and lead us into the digital future.

Tony Jin, Huawei’s Chief Representative to the European Institutions, said: “The upcoming Summer School is another outstanding opportunity for future leaders to gain new insights into new technologies. Huawei remains committed to supporting European talent, and I look forward to working together with our Czech partners to deliver an even stronger educational experience. I am grateful to make this announcement two days after the celebrations of Europe Day.”

Berta Herrero, Programme Director of the School for Female Leadership in the Digital Age, said: “Women must be able to shape and lead the tech revolution, which is why our curriculum equips young women with the tools needed to be at the forefront of Europe’s digital transition. Whether they come from sciences or from humanities, women have a key role to play within the tech sector. No one is excluded from the development of new technologies – in fact, making sure that diversity actually exists within the industry is the first step to building a truly equal, inclusive world, free of biases and discrimination.“

About the European Leadership Academy’s School for Female Leadership in the Digital Age:

It is the aim of Huawei and the “School for Leadership in the Digital Age” to recognize the immense potential that female talent has – and to proactively support it, empowering girls to lead the tech revolution.

Applications are open from today until 31 May 2022. An independent jury will select 29 participants for this week-long entirely free scholarship programme of masterclasses, team projects, active learning and cultural experiences. Participants will be selected from each one of the 27 EU Member States. There will also be a participant from Ukraine and one participant from the "Western Balkan 6".
