#NextGenChange- Makers meet MEPs in Brussels to showcase youth priorities

on 18/10/2022

The Schools for Female Leadership in the Digital Age empower young women from across Europe to shape our common future.

Last week, four alumnae from the 2022 Summer School got the chance to do precisely that. Bukky (Ireland), Madalena (Portugal), Kristina (Sweden) and Elia (Greece) spent an intense week in Brussels at the heart of the European Union and ensured that the priorities of Europe’s Youth were aired in the centre of EU policymaking.

They visited the European Parliament and spoke with some of the women shaping Europe. Our aspiring leaders of tomorrow met with a host of MEPs including Margarida Marques, Samira Rafaela, Maria da Graça Carvalho, Maria Walsh, Sylvie Brunet, Radka Maxová, Josianne Cutajar, Alessandra Moretti, Tsvetelina Penkova and Lidia Pereira, who is also president of the Youth of the European People's Party (YEPP).

The meetings provoked lively debate and discussion and explored issues ranging from Europe’s quest for real and effective equality, to young people’s role in the future of the continent, and the challenges facing our digital society. The #NextGenChangeMakers also enjoyed lunch in the Parliament with a panoramic view over the city.

Away from the European Parliament, our aspiring leaders of tomorrow attended Executive Meetings on both Feminist Foreign Policy and Equality and Diversity in the EU and took part in high level sessions on Leadership, Policy and Sustainable Development and the twin transition. They also paid a visit to the Huawei Cyber Security Transparency Centre.
