A Year of Achievements: Nurturing passion for positive change

In the whirlwind of events that defined my 2023, one could say it was a year of profound personal and professional growth, a journey marked by determination, interdisciplinary exploration, and a commitment to making a positive impact. As a computer science student, completing my master's degree was a significant milestone, yet it was merely the launchpad for a series of endeavors that would shape my path as an initiator and advocate for change.

The completion of the master's degree definitely marked my 2023 the most. Following it, I decided to embark on a PhD programme embracing the challenges and opportunities that research and academia offer with the goal of continuing my passion of making a positive impact, especially in sustainability. Additionally, I started working in academia with the goal of contributing to research that can encourage change.

As someone who had the opportunity to be a part of the European Leadership Academy, I am more than aware of how much mentoring can mean to someone, helping them to shape their path. This is why I also accepted the offer of being a co-leader and mentor in a University team focusing on web technologies, volunteering to mentor students and spread knowledge so that I can be a part of their journey and helping them grow their passion.

Beyond the academic sphere, my journey took an unexpected turn when I participated in a Chinese language competition in Croatia, getting the 3rd place. This achievement symbolizes the importance of embracing diverse interests and pushing boundaries. Learning a new language not only enriches personal growth but also fosters cross-cultural understanding – a skill vital in our interconnected world.

Reflecting on this transformative year, I am reminded of the power of passion and the capacity for change that lies within each of us. Whether it's through research, mastering a new language or learning a new skill, our actions can transcend the boundaries of our chosen fields. As we navigate to the future, let us use our unique talents, knowledge, experience and perspectives to make a lasting impact.

My 2023 is more than a series of checkmarks on a list – it is a narrative of growth, ambition, and striving towards excellence. In my achievements, I find not just a personal success story but a narrative of inspiration to others. It sets an example to the idea that, in the pursuit of knowledge and innovation, we have the power to address global challenges, step by step.
