Dr. Mohammed Chahim

Member of the European Parliament

Dr. Mohammed Chahim is a Member of the European Parliament for the Dutch social democrats. He is a member of the committee on environment, health and food safety and the committee on industry research and energy. He is also the Vice-President for the S&D on the European Green Deal.

Previously he worked as a researcher in environmental economics and energy transition at the Dutch organization for applied scientific research (TNO).

He holds a master’s degree in econometrics and operations research, and a research master in microeconomics. Afterwards he completed his PhD in Operations Research at Tilburg University in 2013.

He joined the Dutch Labor Party (Partij van de Arbeid) when he was 18 and started his political career in 2006 as a member of the municipal council in his hometown. From 2014 up to his election to the European Parliament, he led the local group of his party in Helmond.

Participating in the "Generative AI: Challenges and Opportunities Ahead" panel at the European Leadership Academy was a truly transformative experience. Meeting 29 incredible young women from diverse backgrounds was both humbling and inspiring. The Academy showed me firsthand the immense impact that can be achieved when young women are given the right opportunities and a platform to grow. I left the Academy feeling more empowered and optimistic than ever.

It may sound cliché, but the best part of the European Leadership Academy were the caring and passionate people who contributed to it, after the end of the European Leadership Academy, I now feel the most confident and passionate that I have ever been.
